    Hi! I bought a fiddle fig tree 3 months ago from Lowe's. It was stunning, but the leaves quickly started getting brown spots and falling off. These spots consumed the entire tree. I pulled off the last remaining leaves a couple days ago but noticed it has 3 small bright green leaves growing at the top. After watching your videos I know what I did wrong, however for the roots rotting you suggest to act quickly. Do you think I still have time to save my tree? Thank you for your videos by the way. 💚

      You can definitely save your plant! Make sure to water the plant thoroughly when the top inches of soil are dry. Fully soak the soil and ensure it drains really well out the bottom drainage holes. The plant should also be sitting directly in front of and up against your brightest window. Continue to care for the plant and in time more new growth will appear! For additional support, you can consider our Fiddle Leaf Fig Rescue Drops. 10 drops each and every time you water is all you need! amzn.to/3TQ82Os

    I have a Fiddle Leaf Fig that I got about 5 years ago and never re-potted. It is in a huge plastic pot that it came in, and is now root-bound. (the plastic pot is placed inside a ceramic pot) The issue I have is that I cannot re-pot it into a larger container due to limited space, so I'd like to know if I can prune the roots and put it back into the same container with new potting soil. The plant is extremely healthy, and has responded to drastic pruning over the past couple of years to direct the branches upward and control the size. Thank you in advance!

    • @FiddleLeafFigPlant
      @FiddleLeafFigPlant 4 дні тому

      Absolutely! You don't have to prune the roots, just place the plant back into the same size container and it won't grow any taller / larger. You can also slowly shift it to a lower light area if you like which will also slow its growth. Great job caring for your plant!

    I just cut about 18"off the top of my fiddle leaf fig to encourage my tall tree to branch out (thank you for the advice on your propagation video!) Would now be a good time to notch in order to influence where my tree branches out, or would that be too much stress all at once?

    • @FiddleLeafFigPlant
      @FiddleLeafFigPlant 14 днів тому

      I would wait for the new branches to grow just below the point where you made the cut. Then after 4+ weeks, you can try notching if you like in the bare areas. Happy Growing!

    I need to trim about 12 inches off the top of my fiddle leaf to allow it to fit in my space. There's about 9 leaves on that section. Can I divide one cutting into three separate 3-leaf sections and propagate each?

    • @FiddleLeafFigPlant
      @FiddleLeafFigPlant 15 днів тому

    I inherited a 3 foot fiddle leaf fig and a bird of paradise last week and I think they might have root rot . Instead of using smart gravel (since it’s sold out online) is Leca a good alternative ?

    • @FiddleLeafFigPlant
      @FiddleLeafFigPlant 17 днів тому

      Yes, leca can be used as a bottom layer, you'll want to ensure the pot it is in is well draining as well and has multiple holes on the bottom drainage holes.

    My leaves are browning only on one side of the plant and have been browning from the top down. I can only seem to find info about browning/dropping leaves from the bottom up. It also has new growth on the other branch, but not the one dropping leaves. The soil didn't seem overly wet, so I'm at a loss for what to do. I'm afraid to distress the plant to much by repotting it, but will do so if that is the problem.

    • @FiddleLeafFigPlant
      @FiddleLeafFigPlant 17 днів тому

      Sometimes the root system is in the pot in a space where there is an air gap around the roots / soil. This gap doesn't allow water to properly get to one section of the roots and one portion of the plant will appear dry. I recommend aerating the soil and watering when the top inches of soil are dry, ensuring all of the soil is soaked and draining really well out the bottom drainage holes. Happy Growing!

    Hi! This is a great resource. Thank you! I recently trimmed off a few leaves that had brown around the edges, especially the top of the leaf where it attaches to the branch. I realize it was under watered at one point. My question is this. I trimmed so that a little of the leaf stem is still attached (and the poor thing bled). Should I leave those well enough alone now? I trimmed 3 leaves this way.

    • @FiddleLeafFigPlant

    Hi, I had a huge ant problem in my plant pot so I took it into the shower and washed off the ants and the Honeydew that had collected on the leaves. I also used some ant poison to kill the ants but it looks like my tree didn’t the survive all of that. It’s been looking shriveled and hasn’t produced new leaves in weeks. Do you know if it’s possible that my tree may still be alive or should I get rid of it?

    • @FiddleLeafFigPlant
      @FiddleLeafFigPlant 22 дні тому

      It could be the spray has affected the leaves. If there is sap inside the trunk / stems your plant can fully regrow. If it is dry inside, unfortunately it won't be able to regrow.

    My poor Fiddle had a single leaf on a stem … plants seem to die when left in my wife’s care. Did 3 notches and added some Number2 hormone root powder I have … looking forward to any results in a month. Moved the poor plant into our sunroom and managed to spout 1 extra leaf on top - so at least it’s alive

    I got mine for my living room 3 weeks ago and just realised although there's lots of light, there's no point in my home that gets direct sunlight! I don't want to move it to the balcony as it gets very hot in summer, but freezing cold in summer, what to do?

    • @FiddleLeafFigPlant
      @FiddleLeafFigPlant 23 дні тому

      It doesn't need direct sunlight however, it needs to be as close to your window as possible. It would be fine outside as well but would need to come in if the temperatures dropped into the low 60's / 50's.

    I just notched in 2 places. I went DEEP and yet zero milk/ sap came out either places. My fiddle is alive and healthy. So why no sap?

    • @FiddleLeafFigPlant
      @FiddleLeafFigPlant 24 дні тому

      It sounds like you notched your fiddle leaf fig correctly, but there could be a few reasons why no sap came out. Sometimes, healthy trees might not release noticeable sap immediately, or it could be that the sap is being absorbed quickly. As long as your fiddle leaf fig looks healthy, there's likely no cause for concern. Keep an eye on the notched areas for new growth. Happy Growing!

    • @FiddleLeafFigPlant

    Claire, Im new to taking care of FLF as my hobby. I need to make my FLF appears as a canopy appearance. What is the ideal height of the height of the woody stem before I can decide on notching? How to encourage the development of strong woody stem of FLF

    • @FiddleLeafFigPlant
      @FiddleLeafFigPlant 26 днів тому

      To encourage a strong and woody stem, gently wiggle the plant weekly. Over time, the main trunk will thicken and straighten and strengthen. The woody trunk will naturally develop as the plant matures. Ideally if the plant is around 5-6 feet you can decide to notch in the bare areas or you can choose to prune at the top to encourage branches to grow.

    Clair I’m a bit frustrated so bare with me. I emailed a year ago about root rot. Took your suggestions and well here we are again. This time I’ll take pictures. I reported my plants with the dirt you sell. I’m now buying the clay balls to put in a pot to re-pot again. Keep in mind this is a year later. I took ALL your suggestions and bought the root supplement for 2 weeks. Let it fully dry out then started watering again. Well it’s actually worse. Now I have 75% of the plant leaves Turning brown and crispy. I also repotted my 2 other fiddle fig into new pots washed cleaned and plus 2 more new bags of dirt. Now both of these plants are now starting with the brown on the outer edges of the leaves. I use a meter to show the moisture level, I also have light during the winter months and now back near the front of the house with sunlight. Is it a possibility that it could be the dirt?? How do I fix this problem before I loose these plants?? I’m getting upset because I have taken every precaution and have given them ample care. I don’t know what is wrong with these plants. Thank you for the advice. The buds are still very small but definitely more there than before the notching. They are green and pointy, but haven’t developed the papery brown covering yet or anything like that. The main stem is also growing robustly (I had pruned it), so not sure if that apical growth could be keeping these buds lower down from continuing to develop. • @FiddleLeafFigPlant

      Some have had success with self watering pots however, they can increase the risk of the root system staying too wet and causing an infection. Best to have it in a nursery pot with multiple drainage holes at the bottom with light airy soil so that you can thoroughly water and ensure it drains well out the bottom and remove any excess that collects. Happy Growing!

    I’ve tried notching several times but the cut just heals over … what am I doing wrong… the plant seems healthy just growing straight up with lots of large new leaves every week or so

      Good question! It could be the notch is not deep enough of a cut. Try again and hopefully the injury will be great enough to promote new branches just below the notch! Happy Growing!

    My fiddle leaf fig is almost 7' tall and she just put out around a ½doz. New leaves with the ones up top being MASSIVE. When I tell you I panicked when they drooped. LOL

      Sounds like you are caring for your plant really well! Large leaves will droop as they are heavy. Keep wiggling your plant weekly to strengthen and thicken all of the lovely branches and the trunk to help support all that big green gorgeous growth!

    Is the liquid supposed to be clear? I bought this exact product on amazon and it’s brown. 🧐

      It is brown as it has sea kelp as one of the ingredients. Happy Growing!

    You should put the Tools that you need to do it first. Since that’s what you need to start and that’s important.

    Ok, my flf is almost 4feet tall, has 3 leaders and I have had it for 2 years. Took it outside and the breezy ( not really windy) conditions made the tree loose 3 leaves! The main trunk is thick and healthy but the 3 leaders are weak and now only have 3 leaves . Any suggestions on how to strengthen the 3 leaders or leaves? I fertilized the plant after I brought it back inside.

    • @FiddleLeafFigPlant
      @FiddleLeafFigPlant Місяць тому

      To strengthen the stems / trunk the tree can be gently wiggled weekly. Over time, you will find the trunk and stems thicker, straighter and stronger. If the thinner branches are too thin to sustain the large growth, pruning them can help new stronger branches to grow just below the point where you make the chop. Happy Growing!
